KOROLYOV MUSEUM OF SPACE CRAFT

Project aimes to introduce a new proposal for an outdated existing space exploration museum located in Zhytomyr, Ukraine. Museum is located in a hometown of Sergei Korolyov, lead soviet engineer and spacecraft designer, inventor of the first  satellite and a person behind the first man space mission.

New project site is located in the historical centre and a recreational area of the town which still remains undeveloped. Building sits on the river slope, which allows for the structure to expand below the ground level. Overall, its interior situation creates volumetric spiral which sucks spectator in the black hole-like structure.

The proposal includes two types of exhibition space. First one is an installation of the large rockets and has an interactive media-screen in the centre. The second one is spiral-shape space twisted around centre, which contains smaller exhibition objects. The whole structure allows visitors access the different levels of the spacecrafts.
